Statement (first person)

Jul 2024

For me, painting is akin to keeping a diary. By blending figurative forms with abstract atmospherics,  I take pleasure in capturing my observations, thoughts, and current moods through my work in its rawest form. Additionally, I strive to discover the meaning of painting beyond the work itself through the gestures of painting.

The practice-oriented nature of Zen profoundly shapes my work.  The deviations during the painting process and provisionality hold more significance for me than the final representation. At the same time, I like re-entering the same scene at different times. Through repeated experiments, past depravity seems innocent, sins may turn into pastimes, screams become melodies, and sneers have become warmth.

Afflicted with hope, I have always expected something new.
